Lights to be out in Wilson Tunnel for 'a while'
Advertiser Staff
The lights in the Wilson Tunnel on Likelike Highway have been out since 11:30 a.m. Monday and are likely to remain out for some time, said Sharon Higa, a spokeswoman for Hawaiian Electric Co. said Tuesday morning.Higa said HECO repair workers are aware of the problem and are planning to do a "flyover" of the line that services the tunnel to get an understanding of what is needed to put the line back in service. So far, it is known that a crossarm on one of the service line support poles has been damaged and will need to be replaced, Higa said.
"There are quite a few critical steps involved in bringing the service back so it will likely be a while," Higa said.
