Suspect in North Shore car break-ins expected in court

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu police arrested a 37-year-old man today who had been sought by police in connection with a series of North Shore car break-ins and an auto theft incident.

Scott C. Tenney has a preliminary hearing at District Court at 1 Tuesday afternoon.

At about 5 p.m. on Sept. 7, a man reportedly returned to his rental car parked at Chun's Reef on the North Shore to find an unknown man sitting in the driver's seat. The driver and passengers fled the scene with the car, police said.

The car was later recovered at Foodland in Pupukea and several stolen items tied to other car break-ins in the North Shore area were found inside the vehicle.

Tenney had apparently taken a snapshot of himself with one of the digital cameras found in the car and police recovered the photograph as evidence.
