Le Jardin officials unsure when classes will resume

Advertiser Staff

Le Jardin Academy officials were uncertain whether the school would have enough power to reopen Wednesday after the school was shut down Tuesday because of a day-long power failure.

School officials planned to make a decision by 5:30 a.m. before deciding whether classes could resume.

Parents should check the Honolulu Advertiser Web site or listen to KSSK radio in the morning.

Headmaster Adrian Allen said Hawaiian Electric told school officials that even if they did get power up, they didn't know whether they would be able to maintain it.

"That doesn't guarantee it will be on in the morning," said Allen. "By 5:30 a.m. we'll make a decision."

Classes for grades K-12 were canceled after the campus lost power at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Only the junior kindergarten was open because that campus — at another site nearby — had power.
