Miss Hawai'i won't be getting new title, crown

Advertiser Staff

Miss Hawai'i Pilialoha Gaison landed in the top 10 in Monday's Miss America pageant held in Las Vegas.

But she did not make the top five in the scholarship pageant aired on Country Music Television last night.

Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson was crowned Miss America 2007.

Gaison, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, received a $2,000 scholarship for winning the preliminary talent competition with her Tahitian dance on Friday night.

Gaison, 23, is attending Hawai'i Pacific University and working toward a master's degree in business administration and management.
