Book and music gala debuts in spring with award show

For years, the winners of the Hawai'i Book Publishers Association's Ka Palapala Po'okela Awards were announced in the fall. But this year, the ceremonies migrate to spring, to become the centerpiece event for the first Hawai'i Book & Music Festival Gala on May 18.The location of this event is yet to be determined.
The awards honor writers, editors, photographers and illustrators here, as well as others beyond our shores whose focus is on the Islands.
