HerStory selects mountaineer as keynote speaker

Advertiser Staff

A woman who has literally overcome mountains — not to mention a life-threatening heart condition — will be the keynote speaker of this year's HerStory, the Junior League of Honolulu's annual gathering for women, set for 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2.

Alison Levine, one of the most experienced female mountaineers in the country and also a successful Wall Street businesswoman, will give the lunch address on "Overcoming Your Obstacles, Pursuing Your Passions."

Levine will also work with students of the La Pietra Hawaii School for Girls, who will introduce conference speakers and convening sessions.

Cynthia Derosier, author of "The Surfer Spirit," will offer the welcome address.

The day will be spent in workshops on careers, relationships, parenting and style and there will also be a marketplace of lifestyle product vendors.

Early registration: $98 for full day; $68 for Alison Levine lunch only ($15 additional after Feb. 23). To register: 946-6466; go to juniorleagueofhonolulu.org; or e-mail: info@juniorleagueofhonolulu.org.
