Advertiser Staff

A preview of the second summertime Hawaii Performing Arts Festival will be held 3-4 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Hawaii Public Radio's Atherton Performing Arts Studio, 738 Kaheka St.

The program will be broadcast live on KHPR-88.1 in Honolulu, KKUA-90.7 in Wailuku and KANO-91.1 in Hilo.

Pianist Val Underwood, the festival's artistic director, will perform with artists associated with the festival faculty or musical lineup, including Jennifer McGregor, soprano; Kimaree Gilad, oboe; and Phillip Gottling, bassoon.

Admission is free but space is limited, so reservations are essential. Call 955-9921.

The Hawaii Performing Arts Festival will be staged July 11-29 at Waimea on the Big Island and is akin to the Aspen Music Festival and Tanglewood, with student musicians studying and performing with internationally known artists.
