2nd power outage closes both Le Jardin campuses

Both campuses at Le Jardin Academy in Kailua will remain closed today because of a power outage, Headmaster Adrian Allen said Wednesday morning.

"My understanding from HECO is that one of the (power) lines broke from the wind in the wind yesterday and they had it repaired at 9 p.m., but unfortunately it broke again last night," Allen said. "We had strong winds here again last night."

The school was shut down Tuesday because of a daylong power failure caused by high winds.

HECO officials told Allen on Tuesday the problem was deep in a gulch behind the school.

"Something cut one of the lines behind the school in a gulch that they needed to hack their way into," Allen said. "They had to chop their way up through the bush."
