Pauoa's Green House holds macrobiotic cooking class Feb. 10

Island macrobiotic authority Kathy Maddux, who trained and worked at the Kushi Institute in Massachusetts, will give a macrobiotic cooking class at the Green House (224 Pakohana St., Pauoa) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 10.Participants will prepare and eat a Valentine's Day inspired meal. The macrobiotic approach to wellness focuses on bringing balance to a person's physical and emotional condition by utilizing foods that are balanced energetically and nutritionally. Students will get a booklet of recipes and handy tips. Cost is $25, and the class is limited to 10 students.
On the same day, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., herbalist and ethnobotanist Laura Weiss will teach the workshop "Grow Your Own Probiotic Medicine: Kombucha." Cost is $15.
