Trade winds likely to increase by middle of the week

Moderate trades will continue to blow through the first half of the new week, then build slowly, according to the National Weather Service.

Increased windward rainfall will spread northwest from the Big Island to the rest of the state.

The leeward slopes of most islands will see a few showers each afternoon, forecasters said.

Here's how the next few days look:

Today, sunny. Highs 78 to 88. East winds 10 to 20 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy. Lows 66 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Monday, mostly sunny. Isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs 78 to 88. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 66 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 78 to 88. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 67 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
