Firefighters extinguish brushfires in Kaneohe, Nanakuli

Firefighters this morning responded to two brushfires on the leeward and windward sides of O'ahu.

The first, reported at 9:28 a.m., occurred at 46-078 Emepela Place in Kane'ohe. Firefighters extinguished the brushfire by 9:51 a.m.

A second fire on Mokiawe Street in Nanakuli was reported at 10:55 a.m. and deemed under control a little after 11 a.m.

Information about the size of the fires has yet to be released, said Capt. Terry Seelig, spokesman of the Honolulu Fire Department.
