Developer of Craigside applies for building permit

Advertiser Staff

The developer of the proposed 15 Craigside senior living project has applied for a city permit to allow the development to proceed.

Craigside Retirement Residence LLC is seeking a conditional use permit to construct the 12-story, 198,207-square-foot building at 15 Craigside Place. The project will feature 171 independent- and assisted-living studio and one-bedroom units, 41 skilled-nursing and independent-care beds, a dining area and 128 parking stalls.

The 15 Craigside project is planned for 1.5 acres next to the existing Craigside condominiums in Nu'uanu. The project is scheduled to break ground late this year or early next and be completed by the end of 2009.

The state recently authorized the sale of up to $120 million in special purpose revenue bonds to help fund the development.

The city Department of Planning and Permitting will hold a public hearing on the application, but a date has yet to be set.
