Medical association holding convention in Hawaii

Advertiser Staff

About 4,000 members of the National Medical Association are expected to attend the organization's 105th Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly at the Hawaii Convention center Aug. 4-8.

This year the NMA has extended invitations to active military physicians at military medical centers in Honolulu to attend this year's scientific assembly sessions at no charge. Some of the issues being addressed at the convention include psychological stresses of war and the impact on the family unit, combat injuries, their diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. "This is our way of supporting the men and women physicians serving our country," said Dr. Albert W. Morris, Jr.

Featured speakers during the weeklong convention will include officials from government, academia, the medical and pharmaceutical industries, foundations and representatives from the private sector.
