The Coast Guard is involved in aiding three boaters in distress who are in a 24-foot power boat that is adrift off Kahana Bay.Chief Petty Officer Marsha Delaney said the three people aboard the boat reported wearing life jackets. At the time the boaters reported being adrift, they were about 5 miles off shore and being pushed toward shore by winds, Delaney said.
"We have launched our helicopter to monitor the situation and the 110-foot patrol boat Galveston Island is en route to the area," Delaney said at about 9:20 a.m.
The call for help was received via cell phone, Delaney said.
