HECO using copters for work on Waimea, Manoa jobs

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Co. will be using a helicopter to airlift work crews and equipment to two separate locations, both today and on Friday.

The first of the lifts is scheduled for 9:30 this morning, weather permitting, when contractors working for Hawaiian Electric will fly equipment to a utility pole on a hillside overlooking Waimea Bay.

The second airlift will take place at 8:30 a.m. Friday, if weather allows, when contractors working for Hawaiian Electric will fly equipment to locations in the back of Manoa Valley. The flights will continue intermittently throughout the day and will end at approximately 3 p.m.

The helicopters will not fly over residential or populated areas while carrying loads, as required by Federal Aviation Administration regulations and HECO safety practices.

Helicopters are being used because both locations are inaccessible by other means.
