Charges are pending against a 45-year-old man arrested last night in connection with the beating and stabbing of a man who was found in the brush at Waialua on June 22.

Homicide investigators and Wahiawa Crime Reduction Unit officers received tips and followed up on leads that led to the arrest of the suspect, a felon with eight prior convictions according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records.

Another man, 48, was arrested with the suspect but was later released pending further investigation.

Wahiawa CRU officers last week arrested a Whitmore Village woman, 34, in Waialua on an outstanding $2,500 warrant in connection with the attempted-murder investigation.

Louise Nalimu Segudo was sent to court on the warrant but released pending further investigation on the attempted murder count.

Police said the case is related to a drug deal.

The 32-year-old man found with critical injuries off Cane Haul Road in Waialua at 6:30 a.m. by a man walking his dogs is recovering at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.

He is expected to be released soon from the hospital, according to police.

The man was beaten and stabbed at least four times, according to police.
