Free rides home offered for July 4 'tipsy' revelers

Advertiser Staff

Drivers who drink too much can get a free ride home — and a free tow for their vehicles — from AAA Hawai'i starting 6 tonight through midnight on July Fourth.

Bartenders, restaurant managers, would-be drivers, party hosts or anyone else can call (800) 400-4AAA for a free ride and tow up to 7 miles from one of the automobile association's regular service trucks.

The caller only needs to say, "I need a Tipsy Tow," according to AAA.

The tow truck driver will only provide a one-way, one-time ride for the driver to get to the driver's residence.

No other passengers are allowed. Rides farther than 7 miles will be charged at the normal rate.
