WAIPAHU
Toddler badly injured in fall

Advertiser Staff

A 2-year-old boy was seriously injured yesterday when he went through the metal rods of a railing on the second floor of a two-story walk-up apartment on Aniani Place and fell about 8 to 10 feet.

Apartment manager Linda Tarry said she did not see the 1:45 p.m. accident but saw that the boy was conscious and crying as he was placed into an ambulance by city emergency services personnel. The boy was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition, said Brian Cheplic, Emergency Services spokesman.

The boy and his parents are new tenants and are immigrants from Chuuk, part of the Federated States of Micronesia, Tarry said.
