Season-ticket buyers firm on commitment

University of Hawai'i football fans who made deposits to be in line for the sales of new season tickets are backing up their commitments, UH officials said yesterday.

Only three of the first 300 fans who put down $50 deposits have declined to follow through with purchases, according to John McNamara, UH associate athletic director.

Call-backs to the 815 who ordered 2,900 tickets through the inaugural deposit program began last week and are scheduled to conclude July 13, McNamara said.

"It is nice to see that something so new has been so well received," McNamara said. "We've had a lot of positive feedback about the program since it began."

The program debuted soon after quarterback Colt Brennan announced he would return for his final year of eligibility, giving fans who weren't already season-ticket holders a way to get in line.

McNamara said new sales of season tickets for both football and Rainbow Wahine volleyball will begin July 16.

Individual game sales begin Aug. 6 for women's volleyball and Aug. 13 for football.

Student season tickets for football and women's volleyball begin Aug. 20 with individual student tickets going on sale Aug. 23 (volleyball) and Aug. 27 (football).

The UH football season begins Sept. 1.
