Prosecutors today charged a 45-year-old man in connection with the beating and stabbing of a man who was left to die in the brush in Waialua June 22.

Thomas Lee Manijo, a felon with eight prior convictions, was charged with second-degree attempted murder. He has an initial appearance scheduled tomorrow at District Court.

Manijo is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Police suspect the incident is drug related.

The victim, 32, was found by a man walking his dogs at 6:30 a.m. and is recovering from his injuries at The Queen's Medical Center. Police said the victim could have bled to death if one of the dogs being walked hadn't led his master to him.

Manijo was arrested with another man, 48, Monday based on information developed by the Wahiawa Crime Reduction Unit and homicide investigators.

The second man arrested was released pending further investigation.

Louise Nalimu Segudo, 34, arrested on an outstanding $2,500 warrant last month was also booked and then released pending further investigation in the beating-stabbing case.
