By Rod Ohira

Honolulu firefighters fought 12 small brushfires in a span of two hours tonight.

Illegal fireworks play is the suspected cause for all of them, said HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

Most of the brushfire calls were along the Wai'anae Coast.

As of 10:30 p.m., Seelig said HFD had responded to 36 fire alarms on the Fourth of July, 22 of them in which fireworks is the suspected cause.
