Former Kaimuki golfer Kim tied for fourth

Former Kaimuki High School student Chan Kim shot a 3-under 69 and is tied for fourth after today's first round of the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, Mich.

Kim, who lives in Arizona, birdied four holes and had 13 pars. He is one shot behind three golfers tied for first.

Kamehameha-Maui student Keli'i Dias shot an 8-over 80 and is tied for 78th.

In the girls division, Maui High senior Kelcie Kawano shot a 9-over 81 to tie for 29th. Kawano was the runner-up at this year's state golf tournament.

Stacy Kim of California shot a 72 to lead the field.

At the Rolex Tournament of Champions in Columbus, Ohio, Kimberly Kim and Ayaka Kaneko each shot a 6-over 77 and are tied for 18th after the second round.

Kim, a former Big Island resident who lives in Arizona, and Kaneko, a Sacred Hearts senior, both shot 3-over 74s in yesterday's first round and are at 9-over 151 for the tournament.

Kim birdied two holes and parred eight, while Kaneko birdied two holes and parred 10 in the second round, which was delayed for three hours due to rain.

Courtney Ellenbogen of Virginia shot a 2-under 69 second round to lead at 1-under 141.
