Hawaiian, Aloha tops in timing

Hawaiian and Aloha airlines were the top two domestic carriers for on-time performance for May.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 92.8 percent of Hawaiian's planes were on time in May. Aloha had the industry's next-best on-time performance at 88.4 percent. AirTran and Delta ranked third and fourth in on-time performance.

Hawaiian also led the industry in May for fewest cancellations and mishandled baggage. The airline had 2.7 mishandled baggage reports for every 1,000 passengers, and 10 cancellations out of 4,707 flights.


PETS DISCOUNT TO OPEN 6TH STORE

Local pet store chain Pet's Discount plans to open its sixth Hawai'i store next month at Market City Shopping Center at the mauka end of Kapahulu.

The 3,200-square-foot store is moving into space formerly occupied by Blockbuster.

Store hours will be Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


ALAMO PARTNERS WITH ALL NIPPON

Alamo Rent A Car has entered into a travel services partnership with All Nippon Airways that allows members of the ANA frequent flier program to earn miles when renting from Alamo Rent A Car at any location in the U.S. and Canada.

ANA Mileage Club members renting from any Alamo Rent A Car location will earn 300 ANA Miles per rental.

ANA is the seventh-largest airline in the world by passenger load and Japan's largest domestic carrier. ANA flies to Honolulu and a number of other U.S. cities.
