The Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards signed their top picks in last week's National Basketball Association draft.

Los Angeles came to terms with forward Al Thornton, the 14th overall selection in the June 28 draft, and Washington agreed to a contract with guard-forward Nick Young, the 16th pick.

Under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, Thornton will make about $2.76 million and Young about $2.49 million. Each of the contracts, which the teams announced in separate news releases, is for two years and includes options for two additional seasons.

Thornton averaged 19.7 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior at Florida State University last season. He shot 53 percent from the field and averaged a league-high 23.5 points in Atlantic Coast Conference games.

Young averaged 17.5 points as a junior at the University of Southern California last season. He ranked second in the Pacific- 10 Conference in scoring and in 3-point shooting at 44 percent.
