MLB: Injury keeps Rodriguez out of Yankees' lineup

Associated Press

NEW YORK — Alex Rodriguez wasn't in the starting lineup for the New York Yankees' game against the Minnesota Twins today.

Rodriguez strained his left hamstring Monday night when he tripped over Twins first baseman Justin Morneau's ankle while beating out a potential double play. He advanced to second before leaving the game.

He played third base Tuesday and was the designated hitter for Wednesday's game. He went 0-for-4 both days and said after Wednesday's 6-2 loss to Minnesota that his left hamstring didn't feel any better or worse.

Rodriguez, currently 0-for-19, still leads the majors with 28 homers and 80 RBIs. He has played in every game this season.

The Yankees slugger topped fan voting for Tuesday's All-Star game in San Francisco with 3.89 million votes, but said Wednesday he could skip the game to rest his strained hamstring.
