A 69-year-old woman died today after crashing her car into a pole on Kupuohi Street near the Wal-Mart store in Royal Kunia, according to police.

The crash was reported at 3:42 p.m. and the woman may have suffered a medical condition, police said.

Vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Lorenzo Ridella said the woman was driving a 2003 Honda Civic northbound on Kupuohi Street when the car veered and went over the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a pole.

She was pronounced dead at Hawaii Medical Center-West.

The death is being counted as O'ahu's 37th traffic fatality, pending autopsy findings.
