No fireworks-related injuries reported to paramedics

City paramedics did not treat a single fireworks-related injury during the Fourth of July holiday, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's Emergency Services Department.

"There were no burn cases or difficulty breathing cases related to fireworks use," Cheplic said.

Paramedics did, however, treat three people for smoke inhalation due to brushfires.

About 7:45 p.m. yesterday, an 'Ewa Beach man who was trying to extinguish a brushfire was treated for smoke inhalation, Cheplic said.

And at about 9 p.m., two people at a Wai'anae homeless shelter were also treated for smoke inhalation, Cheplic said. Their ages and gender were not immediately available.
