Firefighters respond to fewer fire calls over holiday

Firefighters responded this Fourth of July to about 30 fewer fire calls then last year, according to a press release issued this afternoon by the Honolulu Fire Department.Of the 81 fire calls received this year, 60 were fireworks-related.
During last year's holiday, of 113 fire calls reported, 78 were fireworks- related.
There were about 30 fewer brushfires this year as compared to last year, with 67 reported brush fires.
Fire officials responded to 19 reports of rubbish fires this year, and 23 last year.
There were seven dumpster fires this year, and six last year. One building fire was reported this year and last year.
