Warning signs along Palolo Stream tied to sewer leak

Advertiser Staff

City officials area posting signs along Palolo Stream warning people of a possible sewage leak contamination, according to a statement issued today by the state Department of Health.

Officials discovered a leak in a Palolo Valley sewer main after performing various dye tests. The sewage has been entering the storm drain system and exiting into Palolo Stream, near 2265 Palolo Ave., just below Anuenue Elementary School.

The location and amount of sewage that leaked will not be determined until further investigation.

People are advised to stay out of the water. The signs will be removed when test results determine that the sewage leak is corrected.
