Staph infection expert to speak

An expert on staph infections will speak at the John A. Burns School of Medicine today.

Dr. David J. Pombo, medical director for the Division of Infectious Diseases and Department of Pathology at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, will speak from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Medical Education Building, room 314-1.

Pombo is set to talk about staphylococcus aureus and its role in infectious disease. He will focus on how Salt Lake City was able to set up a system to rapidly detect and treat cases in which patients contracted staph infections.

The talk is free.
