Golf: Simpson makes cut, 3 others miss at U.S. Senior

Former Kailua resident Scott Simpson shot a 2-over-par 74 today and is tied for 33rd after the second round of the U.S. Senior Open at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.Simpson is at 1-over 145. Tom Watson, who shot a 66, is at 136 and has a three-shot lead entering the third round.
Hale Irwin, of Hokulia, Hawai'i, shot a 73 and Dave Eichelberger, of Honolulu, shot a 74 were tied for 63rd at 149, missing the cut by one stroke.
Mark Morrison, of Kailua, Kona, Hawai'i's sectional qualifier, finished with a 78 and was tied for 110th at 156.
