Hongwanji Council to offer Buddhist 'Metta' seminar

The O'ahu Hongwanji Council is holding a seminar, "The Foundation of Buddha-Darma: How to Live in Metta (Loving Kindness) in Today's World," at 2 p.m. July 22 at the Pearl City Hongwanji, 858 Second St.

The seminar will be led by the Rev. Shoyo Taniguchi of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church. Taniguchi holds degrees in English literature and Buddhist studies. She has taught at Ichimura Junior College in Nagoya, Buddhist Ethics at the Institute of Buddhist Studies and Medical Ethics at Kagoshima University Dental School.
