Leeward residents asked to conserve water

Advertiser Staff

Leeward Coast residents and businesses from Honokai Hale to Makaha are being asked by the Board of Water Supply to conserve water while crews repair a leaky, 24-inch water main.

The leak on Farrington Highway, between Laaloa and Waiomea streets, was reported at about 11:42 a.m. yesterday. The far right town-bound lane between Koio Drive and Laaloa Street will be closed to rafic as crews repair the main. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving in the area.

Leeward residents are being asked to use water for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene only until the repair is complete.

The agency is conducting the leak repair to prevent additional water loss and a possible main break. No customers have lost service.
