A 7-year-old boy escaped serious injury yesterday after getting his hand caught in a conveyor belt at Honolulu Airport's interisland baggage claim area.

The boy was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic.

Personnel in the baggage claim area helped to free the boy before firefighters responding to the 12:26 p.m. call arrived.
