Advertiser Staff

Bobbi Kokx will chase a third Match Play Championship when the second major of the Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association season tees off Monday at Oahu Country Club.

Kokx, an elementary school teacher on Maui and former University of Hawai'i player and coach, captured the 2002 and 2003 match-play titles. Mari Chun has won twice since. Cyd Okino, then 11, became the youngest match-play champion in history in 2005.

Chun, who will be a junior at Stanford, and Okino, who is playing the Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association state championship on the Big Island, are not back this year.

The field is made up of approximately 12 women, including Rainbow Wahine Lisa Kajihara and Erin Matsuoka, Portland State junior Kayla Morinaga and Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Katie Sisler.

Qualifying begins at 8 a.m. Monday, with the first round at 1 p.m. There will also be two rounds Tuesday, beginning at 6:45 a.m. and noon. Wednesday's final, scheduled for 18 holes, tees off at 8 a.m.
