Friday morning earthquake rattles area near Tonga

An earthquake that was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 5.8 rumbled through an area near Tonga early Friday morning.The earthquake, which occurred at 7:40 a.m. Hawai'i time, was centered about 65 miles east-southeast of Hihifo, Tonga.
There were no reports of injuries or damage caused by the quake.
