Volleyball: U.S. Jr. men top Russia in Morocco

The U.S. Men's Junior National volleyball team, captained by Honolulu's Kawika Shoji and Spencer McLachlin, beat Russia, 28-26, 25-22, 29-27, today at the FIVB Men's Junior World Championships in Rabat, Morocco.

Matt Anderson scored 14 points (12 kills, two blocks) and Cole Reinholm 13 (13 kills) as Team USA improved to 2-0 as the only unbeaten team in Pool B. Iran and Japan are 2-0 in Pool A.

Shoji started at libero while McLachlin played a reserve role as an outside hitter and scored one point.

Max Holt added nine points (six kills, two aces, one block), Will Price had eight (seven kills, one block) and Max Lipsitz seven (six kills, one block).

Team USA's serve receiving was strong as Russia got just one ace. Team USA was credited with 45 "excellents" and only one fault in 59 reception attempts. Reinholm had 19 excellents.

Team USA plays Brazil (1-1) today. The Brazilians beat Argentina, 25-10, 25-18, 25-22, today.
