Firefighters battle brushfires in Pearl City, Kalaeloa

Firefighters today fought brushfires in Pearl City and Kalaeloa.

Honolulu Fire Department companies from Pearl City, Waiau and 'Aiea along with a tanker truck from Waipahu responded to a 12:20 p.m. alarm near the city's bus yard and had the fire extinguished at 1:37 p.m.

Fire department spokesman Capt. Robert Main said the fire burned two acres threatened some homes in the area but damages or injuries were reported.

The second brushfire in Kalaeloa between Coral Sea Road and Bougainville Street started about 1:47 p.m.

Engine companies from Kapolei, Makakilo, Waipahu and 'Ewa Beach plus a brush truck from Kapolei and tanker 412 from Waipahu fought the blaze which was reported under control at 2:13 p.m., according to Main.
