A 16-year-old boy was injured today in a 20-foot fall at Makapu'u.

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said the boy was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

Fire Rescue 1, firefighters from the Waimanalo station and the department helicopter, responded to the tide pool area off the Makapu'u hiking trail at 5:38 p.m.

Firefighters airlifted the injured boy to Sandy Beach, where EMS workers were standing by, fire department spokesman Capt. Robert Main said.
