NBA: Nets sign 1st-round draft pick Sean Williams

Associated Press

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — First-round draft pick Sean Williams has signed with the New Jersey Nets.

As the 17th pick, Williams will earn $1,180,500 his rookie year and $1,269,100 his second year. The Nets have options for the third and fourth years.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound forward played 69 games in three years at Boston College, leading the team in blocks each season. But he had repeated disciplinary problems and was dismissed from the team by coach Al Skinner after playing 15 games this past season.

In those 15 games he averaged 12.1 points and 6.9 rebounds while setting a school record with 75 blocked shots.
