Go green with a Green Sak ($2.50), made from nonwoven polypropylene. This helps reduce the number of plastic bags in the landfill and in the ocean. Plus, proceeds go to the nonprofit Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai'i, which funds beach cleanups, litter prevention campaigns and environmental education.

Green Saks can be found at Kale's Natural Foods in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. Information: 393-2168.

JUICE UP YOUR DIET

Drinking fruit juice is a great way to add an extra serving of fruit to your diet. Some tips for selecting healthy fruit juice:

  • Choose only 100 percent fruit juice (drinks labeled as juice beverage, drink or cocktail contain a lot of added sugar).
  • Fruit juice has less fiber and more calories than whole fruit, so try to limit yourself to one 8-ounce glass a day.
  • When selecting a juice, pick richly colored ones such as orange, purple grape, cranberry and pomegranate for the most health benefits.
