Man critical after fight with brother

A 27-year-old man was in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center yesterday after a family fight in Waipahu, officials said.

Police, firefighters and city paramedics were sent to a home on Puhau Way in the Village Park area of Waipahu where a man was reported to have been hit over the head with a beer bottle and knocked unconscious during a fight with his brother.

The fight was reported about 1:20 a.m. yesterday. The 24-year-old brother was arrested and taken to the HPD main station.


MOPED OPERATOR WAS 53-YEAR-OLD

The Honolulu medical examiner's office has identified the moped operator who died Thursday from injuries suffered in a collision Tuesday in Helemano as Robert Sherez, 53, of Honolulu.

Sherez was operating a moped that rear-ended a car on Kamehameha Highway near the Pa'ala'a Uka-Pupukea Road intersection at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

He was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he died Thursday at 9:35 p.m.
