NFL: Bills sign rookie QB Edwards

Advertiser Staff

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills signed quarterback Trent Edwards, the team's third-round draft pick, today.

Edwards, drafted 92nd overall out of Stanford, is the second of the team's seven draft picks to sign. The Bills inked seventh-round selection C.J. Ah You, a defensive end, last month.

The 6-foot-4, 231-pound Edwards played only seven games as a senior — going 94-of-156 for 1,027 yards passing and six touchdowns with six interceptions — before being sidelined by a broken foot.

He will compete for the backup QB job with incumbent Craig Nall when Buffalo opens training camp later this month.
