Sears, GM among big movers in stock market

NEW YORK — Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

General Motors Corp., up 65 cents at $37.42; Ford Motor Co., up 1 cent at $9.09

The shares of the two automakers were upgraded to "Overweight" by a JPMorgan analyst, who said he expects gains from "radical" union-related changes.

Pepsi Bottling Group Inc., up $1.31 at $35.74

The Pepsi drink distributor said it is raising its full-year earnings outlook, thanks to strong second-quarter earnings.

Greenbrier Cos., up $4.52 at $33.15

The railcar manufacturer said its fiscal third-quarter earnings rose 22 percent on higher production. The results topped analyst estimates.

Sears Holdings Corp., down $17.20 at $154.21

The operator of Sears and Kmart said its second-quarter earnings will likely fall well below Wall Street expectations after weak sales of home appliances and other products.

Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc., up 64 cents at $5.98

The company said late Monday it is mulling ways to maximize shareholder value, including a sale of the company that publishes TV Guide magazine.

Depomed Inc., down $2.93 at $2.00

The drug maker reported disappointing results in a late-stage clinical trial of its Gabapentin GR extended release tablet for nerve pain.
