Made in Hawaii Festival set for Aug. 17-19 at Blaisdell

Advertiser Staff

The Made in Hawai'i Festival, which features goods and products grown or made in the Islands, will be held Aug. 17-19 at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall and Arena.

This year's event, "Buy Hawai'i, For Hawai'i," will feature more than 420 booths with vendors from around the state. About 16 percent of the exhibitors will be from the Neighbor Islands, said Richard Botti, president of the Hawai'i Food Industry Association, which coordinates the event.

In addition to the products, entertainment will be provided by Jerry Santos, Raiatea Helm, Genoa Keawe and Frank DeLima. The state's top chefs, including Elmer Guzman, Eldon Ricardo and Michael Imada, will feature Hawai'i-grown produce and products in culinary demonstrations sponsored by HMSA.

The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 and 18, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19. Admission is $3, free for children 6 and under. Coupons for $1 off the admission price will be available at First Hawaiian Bank branches on O'ahu in August.
