NHL: Capitals, Varlamov agree on three-year deal

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Washington Capitals signed 2006 first-round draft pick Simeon Varlamov, a goalie, to a three-year, entry-level contract today.The 19-year-old Varlamov was the 23rd overall pick a year ago. He played in the Russian Super League last season, going 15-7-6 with a 2.12 goals-against average.
Varlamov is attending the Capitals' summer development camp this week.
