Oahu real-estate firm to award nonprofit grants

Advertiser Staff

Local real-estate firm Abe Lee Realty has created a nonprofit to help support charities that assist the homeless and first-time homebuyers.

The firm's principal, Abe Lee, said he will donate a percentage of gross sales up to $100,000 a year for distribution to charitable organizations.

The company presented its first grant to the Hawaii HomeOwnership Center last week.

Abe Lee Charities plans to distribute awards of $6,000 to $25,000 four times a year. Charities with Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation may apply for grants online at abeleerealty.com/charities or by calling 942-4472, ext. 206.

Award recipients will be selected by a board of advisors considering merits of the organization and service to O'ahu residents. The next application deadline is Aug 1.
