Long tops Sisler to win Hawaii women's golf match play

Advertiser Staff

Erin Long defeated Katie Sisler, 3 and 2, today to win the Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association Match Play Championship at Oahu Country Club.

Long, who lives in Waikiki but is originally from Napa, Calif., was 4-up after five holes.

However, Sisler, a recent Punahou School graduate from Manoa, won the next four holes to make the turn at even.

Long then won three of the first four holes on the back and closed it out on the 16th.

This event will be Long's last as an amateur as she plans to become a teaching pro. Her last tournament was the 2004 Western Athletic Conference Championship when she played for Nevada.

Sisler will attend UC Davis in the fall.
