Ancient human bones found in East Honolulu

State archaeologists confirmed today that human bones discovered Tuesday by a hiker in 'Aina Haina are ancient remains.

The remains are on private property and were left undisturbed.

Tim Lee, of the State Historic Preservation Division, declined to release any information about the location to protect the remains.

A hiker discovered the bones Tuesday, and police requested state Department of Land & Natural Resources assistance to determine if they were ancient.
