Advertiser Staff

A 50-year-old has been charged with attacking two Big Island police officers with a metal pipe Tuesday night.

The officers were investigating complaints about a naked man creating a disturbance in South Kona.

Michael David Negrini, of South Kona, was charged yesterday with two counts of first-degree assault on a police officer, two counts of second-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Negrini also was charged with criminal property damage, disorderly conduct, open lewdness, simple trespass, terroristic threatening, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal tampering based on complaints from four men, ages 48, 58, 63 and 70.

An additional charge of third-degree assault was added later as Negrini allegedly slapped a man, 29, while in the Kona police cellblock.

Negrini's bail totals $50,250, pending a court hearing today.

Police said Negrini struck the officers with a metal pipe. The officers were not seriously injured.
